Changing key mid-service
How to move from one song to the next with no gap in the sound.
There is no intermediate step: tap the new key and that is it. The previous key disappears as the new one comes in, and the ear catches no seam.
Common situations
- Modulation mid-song — tap the new key as soon as the band lifts. The transition follows.
- Moving from praise into ministry — change the texture too, not just the key. A softer pad opens room for the voice.
- A moment of prayer — leave the pad running and bring the mixer down instead of stopping.
What to avoid
Avoid stopping the pad between songs: silence draws more attention than the change does.
